New Delhi: The Indian Railways will invite financial bids worth over Rs 20,000 crore (approx US$ 3,125 Million) for manufacturing around 5,000 AC & non-AC coaches that will be equipped with modern facilities like automatic doors, forced ventilation system, bio-toilets, regenerative braking system & better interior design, the coaches will run faster than existing ones, at the Kanchrapara rail factory in West Bengal this month. The public transporter intends to acquire 500 Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) & Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) coaches per year as assured offtake from the facility to make local and mainline train services faster & comfortable.
