The muse exhibited by the Union Minister for Steel Narendra Singh Tomar and the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) in the Palakkad railway coach factory project could rejuvenate the project that has been left astray for a number of years now.
Attending a meeting in New Delhi on Friday, Tomar suggested Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who was accompanied by MPs M B Rajesh and M K Raghavan, that SAIL was looking forward towards a partnership in a joint venture with the railways to realize the project.
Tomar told the CM that if the railways nominated SAIL as its joint venture partner, it would take up the project, provided the coaches manufactured at the Palakkad factory be bought by the railways.
