Noida: On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet approved the Noida to Greater Noida Metro Rail project which will cost around Rs 5,500 crore (approx US$ 846.15 Million) for a 30 kilometer stretch. The metro project is expected to be operational by April 2018.

- The Aqua Line, as it has been named, will start from Sector-71 in Noida and will connect to the the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line, which is being extended from Noida City Centre to Sector-62.
- The Aqua Line is being built by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), which in January got approval for an assistance of Rs 1,587 crore (approx US$ 244.15 Million) from the National Capital Regional Planning board at a subsidised rate.
- The trial run on the new line, which will have 21 stations, may happen by this year-end.
