The process of receiving bids for the second metro rail corridor between Pandit Nehru Bus Station and Nidamanuru has been prolonged for the third time in this month. The tenders were supposed to be closed on Dec 14. As the bidders had some sort of uncertainty regarding several technical issues, officials affirmed that they will wait till Dec 22. It is noteworthy that the final date for submitting bids was initially announced as Dec 5 and subsequently changed to Dec 14.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials have partitioned the corridor into two packages for tenders - Railway Station (East) to Gunadala and Gunadala to Nidamanuru. As per available information, enterprises are doubtful if Gunadala station would be part of both packages.
It is being speculated that the delay in sealing the tenders is because of unavailability of funds. Since the Centre has not sanctioned the project funds, Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) has appealed for the release of funds.
Meanwhile, DMRC officials and engineers from South Central Railway surveyed the area on Tuesday where the metro line is proposed to come up. Drawings of the same have been submitted to the railway officials.
